Case Summary:

The amended complaint alleges that Crowley Maritime Corporation and its former employee Juan Blanco engaged in sex trafficking and violated the federal anti-sex trafficking statute known as the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA/TVPRA) when they transported plaintiff Vanessa Treminio from San Salvador, El Salvador to Jacksonville, Florida where, the complaint alleges, Treminio was sexually assaulted by Blanco in a hotel.

The amended complaint further alleges that Crowley engaged in Forced Labor in violation of the TVPA with respect to Mrs. Teminio, that Blanco subjected Mrs. Treminio and other female Crowley employees to a hostile work environment, that the alleged sexual assault endured by Mrs. Treminio was part of a pattern of behavior by Blanco, and that Crowley knew or should have known that Blanco would violate the TVPA with respect to Mrs. Treminio during the trip to Jacksonville.
